The Grizzly family is impressed
Wolfsburgs ice hockey-star is testing the new Golf Sportsvan
Dynamic handling, safe characteristics and a generous amount of space are decisive for Brent Aubin in everyday driving. A professional ice hockey player for the Grizzlys Wolfsburg team and a father of three, Brent not only transports his bulky ice hockey kit – his wife and three daughters need to travel in comfort and safety, too. The new Volkswagen Golf SV is the right car for him. Or, as his oldest daughter puts it: "This car is simply fantastic!"

A compact van suitable for everyday family use
The Eis Arena in Wolfsburg has been Brent Aubin's second home for over four years now. The Canadian, who comes from Saint-Jérôme in Quebec, not only commutes to the ice rink for training sessions and home matches, but also takes his daughters to their sports activities. While the oldest daughter is interested in figure skating, the second daughter cheers on her father and also pulls on her own skates for the Grizzlys.

Nimble in city traffic and on the ice
For the professional ice hockey player, dynamic handling and good road holding when he drives through Wolfsburg with his family are almost as important as his agility on the ice. The Sportsvan also scores in these categories. Thanks to its talents, the Golf SV turns journeys into a pleasant experience not only for the passengers, but also for the driver.
The "Trailer Assist" system including "Park Assist" makes reversing with a trailer easier. Aubin definitely does not need an assist system to manoeuvre on the ice because he started skating at the tender age of just 14 months. He was already playing in a team at three and, twelve years later, he made his debut with the Toronto Marlies, who are affiliated to the prestigious Toronto Maple Leafs. Today, the Canadian is a proud Grizzly and fighting as a winger for the team.

Just like on the ice, he likes to keep things under control when he is behind the wheel. While he is driving, his wife takes care of their daughters and the right choice of music. His choice of shirt number also shows that the couple are a team: the number 11 stands for 2011 – the year they got married.
Adjustable rear seat
Flexible usage possibilities in a car are particularly important for young families. No matter whether Brent Aubin is driving to training or going on a long journey with all of his family – the Golf SV has more flexibility to offer compared with the other Golf models. The rear seat bench can be moved up to 18 centimetres allowing the space to be organised in various ways.
It can be adjusted to suit the number of passengers and the amount of luggage. The compact sports van can carry up to five grown up hockey players. It provides a boot volume of up to 1,520 litres for travelling families.
"The Volkswagen Golf SV is family-friendly and has everything that I need for everyday driving," sums up the proud husband and father. "It provides plenty of space for my wife, my daughters and our luggage."

The Canadian also revealed what he will be doing at Christmas after hinting that he wanted to take the Golf SV straight home. Ever since his first European career move to Salzburg, the hockey player has celebrated Christmas Eve with his close family over a raclette dinner. On New Year's Eve, he will also invite his second family, i.e. the whole Grizzlys professional team, to his home in Wolfsburg. "We always have lots of fun together with our families. We won't stay up too long though because we have our first training session of the year on the first of January," explains the professional with a cheerful smile.
Grizzlys Wolfsburg: a sports success story
Brent Aubin joined Grizzlys Wolfsburg in 2013. The team have played their home games at the Eis Arena Wolfsburg since 2006. The club is currently enjoying great success in the DEL – Germany's top-tier ice hockey league. The Grizzlys won the German ice hockey cup in 2009. During the past nine years, the team always made it into the play-offs. 2016 and 2017 they could celebrate the title of "runner-up", twice.
